As director of marine research at Shedd Aquarium, Dr. Kessel has work with a wide variety of marine species and is a well-established conservation scientist. As part of his work for the Shedd Aquarium, he oversees a suite of marine conservation research projects aimed at protecting commercially important species in the Bahamas, including the endangered Nassau grouper and threatened queen conch. Dr. Kessel has also launching his own original research project to better understand Caribbean shark species in an effort to protect them from further decline.
